Discover the secrets of this “pearl of modernism”! On Thursday, December 12, at 7:00 PM, in the lower church on Asnyka Street in Kalisz, BIMfaktoria will present the process of digitizing the unique reinforced-concrete structure of the Sanctuary of Divine Mercy.
On Thursday, December 12, at 7:00 PM, a special event will take place in the lower church at 54–56 Asnyka Street in Kalisz – a lecture entitled “The Church of Divine Mercy in Kalisz: History, Research, and Reference Spaces.” This is not only an opportunity to explore the history of one of Poland’s most distinctive churches, but also to learn about the latest research on its architecture and technical condition.
The “Pearl of Modernism” in a New Light
The Church of Divine Mercy, often referred to by experts as a “pearl of modernism,” has long captivated visitors with its unique design. The church’s reinforced-concrete shell structure, created in the 1970s and 1980s and recognized as the first realization of its kind on such a scale anywhere in the world, is considered a masterpiece of engineering and modernist architecture.
Recent months have seen intensive research carried out on this remarkable building. Using advanced technologies, including digitization methods and structural analysis, experts from the Poznań University of Technology and the Warsaw University of Technology conducted detailed assessments of the structure. As emphasized by Fr. Paweł Kostrzewa, the parish priest, these studies represent an important step toward the comprehensive restoration of the church. “We want the church to regain its former glory and once again become a landmark of Kalisz and a source of pride for its residents,” the parish priest adds.
Expert lecture
The lecture will be delivered by renowned experts in architecture and construction: Professor Piotr Marciniak from the Poznań University of Technology and Karol Argasiński from BIMfaktoria. During their presentation, they will discuss not only the results of the research conducted so far, but also the planned restoration works for the reinforced-concrete structure. On behalf of BIMfaktoria, the digitization process and the materials created as part of this work will also be presented.
The event will be attended by Damian Bryl, Bishop of Kalisz, highlighting the significance of this occasion.

Who is this event for?
The lecture is intended for everyone interested in the history of Kalisz, modernist architecture, and the future of one of the region’s most important churches. It is an excellent opportunity to gain insight into the research process, learn more about the church’s extraordinary structure, and take part in discussions about its restoration.
We warmly invite you to attend! Don’t miss this opportunity to learn more about this remarkable church and participate in an event that brings us one step closer to the renewal of this modernist treasure.
Photogrammetry services play a key role in building surveys, enabling the precise collection of data on architectural structures. Thanks to modern technologies such as laser scanning and 3D modeling, this process has become more efficient and accurate. These services support heritage digitization and BIM-based building documentation, allowing for better management of building information and project […]
Photogrammetry is a technique that enables the creation of highly accurate 3D models of historic objects through the analysis of photographs taken from multiple angles. It utilizes modern technologies such as laser scanning and drone imagery, making it possible to capture details that are essential for preserving cultural heritage. The process involves point cloud processing […]
A point cloud is a modern tool that is revolutionizing conservation processes in architecture. Thanks to laser scanning and photogrammetry, it is possible to carry out photogrammetric surveys of historic structures, facilitating their documentation and subsequent conservation work. In this article, we discuss how these technologies support architects and conservation professionals in their daily work. […]
